Occupational English Test (OET) is an international English language test specifically designed for healthcare professionals seeking to register and practice in an English-speaking environment. It assesses all four language skills – listening, reading, writing and speaking – with an emphasis on communication in healthcare professional settings.
The test is divided into four sub-tests: listening, reading, writing and speaking. The Listening and Reading sub-tests are tasks common to all professions. The Writing and Speaking sub-tests are specific to the individual healthcare profession.
OET is currently accepted as proof of English language proficiency by all major healthcare boards and councils in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, UK Nursing & Midwifery Council (UK NMC), Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI), Dubai Healthcare City Authority (DHCA).
